September 18, 2010 – We packed up our Portland house and headed to the infamous Voodoo Doughnuts (http://voodoodoughnut.com/) to learn what everyone is talkin’ about. I tried a Mango filled donut but Joe, feeling adventuresome, went for the bacon maple – did you ever have a donut with a strip of bacon on it?
We did a quick tour of the Saturday Market then headed to California. An important lesson learned . . . it’s pronounced Organ (like a body part) not Or-E-Gone!! J
It was a looooooooooooong trip to California. We would have liked to have leisurely taken the coastal route (we’re still hoping to get a coastal view in California) but, since we’re on a time schedule, took Highway 5. It rained a good portion of the day and the fog was intense. Joe did a great job of driving on water-soaked mountain roads with semi-trucks all around us – better than I did as a passenger . . . my knuckles were white!!!
We are now checked into a Doubletree in Rohnert Park, California . . . waiting for room service . . . this is our celebration tour, after all :-)
