Gulf Shores, Alabama

Day 8 of our vacation was just as eventful as Days 1-7!  Made the drive from New Orleans to Gulf Shores, Alabama without any problems (Joe & Pat may beg to differ  - the stop at the Coach purse outlet store was a little painful for them, ha).  We passed the Carnival Cruise Ship Triumph that was towed to Mobile, Alabama after it’s recent disasterous cruise!  We were very warmly welcomed by Patty & Tim Acocks at their beautiful condo overlooking the beach!  They threw a Yooper party in our honor.  We find it amusing that we have to come all the way south to visit our friends from the U.P.

Day 9 is a Bloody Mary Sunday morning coming down J  After our “breakfast” we headed to Florida, only making it 3 blocks before we came upon, Floribama, a collection of 22 bars within one building that we heard so much about – half of ‘em in Florida and half of ‘em in Alabama.  It has been described to us as a whole bunch of Wooden Nickel Bars duck taped together.   The bar was open and absolutely packed!  Turns out it was a honky tonk church service.  We ordered omelets for breakfast that came with free mimosas.  We split their infamous, Bushwhacker, some type of ice cream drink and managed to get out of there, finally.  We had our doubts for a while.  On the road again . . .
